Bridge for Students in Wageningen

Voor nederlands, klik hier.

This season, I’ll be doing a bridgecourse aimed at students at theWUR (Wageningen University). On this page, you’ll find all deails of the course, as well as some links and supporting material.

Why should I join?

Bridge is fun! it is a game of cards where you and a teammate (“your partner”) together try to achieve the best possible result.

It is a game for the mind. In Bridge, it doesn’t matter whether you get“good” or“bad” cards, it only matters that you get the best possible result with the cards you happen to hold. How? That is something that you’ll have to learn. But if you like serious and complex games, bridge will be for you.

But bridge is more, it is also a social sport. You team up with a partner and play against other partnerships. Every game is new and no two games of bridge are the same. Besides the challenge in the game, there is also the social interaction with the other players and, afterwards, a drink at the bar and the discussion with other players. And you’ll see that bridge players love socializing afterwards.

Bridge is a game that you’ll have to learn. Now, you are all students and used to learn new things and skills. This course takes this into account, from day one you will be playing and discover this game as you go along. After a couple of months, you can play wherever you want: at home, during the lunchbreak, at a club or tournament. And for those of you from abroad: Bridge is played everywhere around the world following the same rules, so when you leave Wageningen, chances are that there is a bridge club in your next town.
